On June 15-16, 2022, the Secretariat of the Committee of E-Learning Officials in Universities and Higher Education Institutions in the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council States held its twentieth meeting at King Khalid University in Abha. The meeting witnessed the presence of the President of the University, Prof. Faleh Al-Sulami, and the participation of e-learning representatives from universities and higher education institutions in the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The university was represented in this meeting by the Dean of Information Technology and Distance Education, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Daj, and the Vice Dean for E-learning, Dr. Youssef Al-Harbi.
During the meeting, the Deanship presented the digital academic advising platform "Wajehni", which was highly praised by committee members for the importance it attaches to following up on students' performance through a platform based on business intelligence techniques and integrated with the academic and administrative system. Several topics, challenges, and difficulties faced by member universities in curricula that require practical training, as well as policies and practices in the equivalency of courses of open academic platforms, were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the committee issued several recommendations, which will be presented to their Excellencies the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
