In the E- government summit held in Riyadh and responding to the invitation received from its organizers, Dr. Muhammad Bin Saeed Al-Kahtani dean of Information Technology and Distance Learning in University of Salman Bin Abdul Aziz speaks about cloud computing with the participation of three international experts. Dr. Al-Kahtani started identifying cloud computing, its references and the need of it as well as its scientific service models and the technical specifications for each model. He declared that cloud computing is considered to be a prominent transformation in the information technology industry and is related to all the foundations and principles upon which this industry is based. Then he spoke about the mechanism of gradual transformation in order to make use of the potentials and services of cloud computing putting into consideration the risks that may encounter that transformation and the most important of which is information security and confidentiality. At the end of his speech, he submitted a number of suggestions and recommendations that serve governmental entities and help the mature and stable private sector to invest locally in that industry in order to establish the required service level under special systems and regulations to be enacted in that concern.
It is worth to mention that, this summit is held with the attendance of a number of international experts and speakers as well as a number of local information technology leaders in both the governmental and private sectors.
